+31 When parents tell you how old their kids are, they are really trying to convey how many prestige levels they've achieved. amirite?

In my experience they almost always ask their age(s) soon after revealing I have kids. But a lot of times I also reveal their ages because doing so gives them an idea of the challenges and experience I have as a parent. It is likely when they seek advice or ask that silly question, "Do you have kids?" and they are exhausted and just want a break from parenting.

As a parent, I can tell you that I usually say it in order to gain sympathy or explain why I'm in such a bad mood.
