Do you pay waiters a living wage too?

by Anonymous 3 years ago

yeah they make more than nurses most nights where i live (PRE Covid)

by Anonymous 3 years ago

One is generally making below minimum wage where in theory the other one should be making a comfortable living wage. Needless to say that isn't always the case.

by Anonymous 3 years ago

yeah definitely not always the case in my country, our waiters walk out on a fri/sat with double what a nurse made

by Anonymous 3 years ago

Nurses make like $50 an hour here. Waiters make like $2.50

by Anonymous 3 years ago

so why don't the waiters try to improve themselves and become nurses then?

by Anonymous 3 years ago

Who says they aren't? Lots of waitstaff don't do it as a dream job, but as something to help them get to a next step.

by Anonymous 3 years ago

Most do. Some can't.

by Anonymous 3 years ago

"Can't" is only up to the person

by Anonymous 3 years ago

Honestly why would u want to be a nurse...when i her a young person say thats what they want ...i feel bad, just like signing up for the military

I always liked Dwight Schrute's approach. Something like he doesn't tip people who do a job he can do. So he won't tip his waitress but he'd tip his cardiologist.

I wonder what 15% would be for a surgical team performing open heart surgery. You might need a loan

by Anonymous 3 years ago

No need to go 15% for a doctor. Just slide 'em a hundo.

EXACTLY im way more happy tipping a person who went to 7+ years of school and has years of experience they are laying down on me to save my life than to tip the guy that brings me a glass of water? come onnn no brainer

by Anonymous 3 years ago

I try to be nice to the folks that handle my food. They might remember a bad tipper. They probably remember a good tipper as well. I have never waited tables. I can imagine they deal with people complaining about the food they just deliver. They don't make it too.

Hospital trips are considered essential. Few essential things require/expect tips.

Nurses have pricks waiters gets bricks

by Anonymous 3 years ago

They get paid a normal wage and can leave the room when someone is telling a bad joke. But also, I always offer to buy my nurses or family members nurses food or whatever. I've always done this as my dad, and brother are disabled so I've been in hospitals more than most people (and it's why I'm a waitress not a nurse *sigh*)
