Isn't it to bring in more oxygen because of a signal from the brain sensing your current O2 levels?

Oxygen levels remain stable in a healthy adult, over 90%. This would assume that when O2 level drops, it makes us yawn. This would also assume that heading the night O2 levels drop. None of the above are true, and people with hypoxia would yawn a lot, and so far, they just become stupid (and die)
