Good. If I know something false and it is demonstably corrected, I now know one less falsehood and one more truth; unless it's also corrected later on.
In my experience, it's the people who are entrenched in their positions who are defensive and unwilling to listen to other opinions, to learn something that shows them wrong. I try to get them to see there are perhaps other paths...but the old saying - 'none so blind as those who will not see'. Not saying my way is right, but I'm usually pretty open to learning new and better ways of seeing and doing things.
The struggle is real.

jk. I think you are right that entrenched positions and lack of openness tend to make others feel defensive and not as open.
