ALL stores and retail operations are FOR PROFIT. What *you* need to understand is who is making the profit : The business itself (a "For Profit" business) or the people on the Board of Directors (a "Non-Profit"). No business operates simply for the good of the community. None. Somebody, somewhere, is profiting. The closest you will get to a truly charitable org might be The Salvation Army, who's CEO takes home very little.

Not the salvation army, that's for sure. I usually drop stuff at Goodwill...no idea if their will is actually any good, though.
