Not every technological advancement has to reinvent the wheel. Boiling water is probably the most safest and easiest to harness with little to no by product.

That's why in startrek they use Electro Plasma Systems .. The antimatter reactions create plasma ...which is piped throughout the ship through EPS conduits. The free electrons can be collected directly into these ....devices that create a voltage ...and runs all the device son the ship ..
