+96 There may come a day where you will need two cars because you will have one on the charger and still need to go somewhere. amirite?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Or just a spare battery?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

None, recharging gets faster with every year. AFAIK, Porsche is able to charge 80% in 10 minutes.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

If this isnt already happening now, I dont see it happening in the future. There are already electric cars out there with a 500 mile radius and batteries only keep improving in terms of efficiency and capacity. They will also be able to be charged faster and be less affected by cold weather as technology develops.

Do you keep two phones in case one runs out of battery or is charging? If so, you're doing it wrong.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You can use your phone while charging....

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Doesn't mean you should. Its terrible for your battery in the long run

I drive an EV with an abysmal range (250km/155mi) and rarely need to charge during the day. And when I need it (maybe once a month on average), there are enough fast chargers available. Compare it with a gas car that magically has a half full tank every morning. How often do you have to refuel such a car? Rarely.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Like you keep 2 cars now in case one of them run out of gas?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Point is it takes 2 mins to get gas. Takes a little longer to charge your car.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Only takes a little longer and will soon become routine to put it on charge the night before. It's part of being slightly organised, like checking the weather forecast then taking a jacket anyway.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yeah. You get home from work and then not leave the house until a it's done. Very nice life.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

It's not particularly rare to spend the night sleeping at home...

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Takes me about 15 minutes to get ~200-225 miles of charge.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I'm sure it does.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I'm sorry. Is this some sort of peasant joke that I'm too rich to understand?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

it's like having two yachts so there'll be one available no matter which hemisphere you take the jet to.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Oh, so a taxes loophole?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I just keep 2 fuel pumps at home.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

"I have two cars in case I just finished driving for 5 hours and can't spare 15 minutes to charge before driving another couple hours"

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Taxi

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Just call a Taxi? Sounds much cheaper then a second car.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

? Why would you have a second car only to be used when one is charging? That's silly, you can just call a friend or taxi or Uber for the rare times that your car will charging and you need to go.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Anyone who has actual experience in driving an electric car knows that this is nonsense.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You know most grocery stores shops gas stations have a charger...... Like you charge at home go out to the store charge it while shopping go about your business never really running out of power

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yeah it's just a small difference in habit, too bad there a 10s of superchargers in my city but none of them works lol.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Actually, you will need 3 cars in case one is charging and your wife has the other one.. wait no 4 cars because the third one is also charging. Poor time management is no excuse lol

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Actually, if you run out of gas now, you need to walk to a gas station and carry a can with gasoline back to your car. With electric cars, you will just have to keep it in the sun for a while....

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Carry a power bank in your pocket.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yeah, sounds about right.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Actually, with Redox Flow Batteries, you could simply exchange the electrolyte at the gas station.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Maybe just don't always use a car?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I think you charge it once a week or something for 2 hours. So it's not that bad when you can charge it while doing the groceries.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I use my phone unti...l... it... di... es...

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Or we give cars reusable batteries so we leave one to charge while using another to drive the car.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Or just use public transport? Or use your fully functing legs?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I have multiple cars now because they are all old and can break at any moment.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

The great majority of people don't drive hundreds of miles per day locally without being able to go back home to charge. Having to charge away from home is usually an issue when driving long distances, in which case your 2nd car, in your driveway, won't help much. We've been driving electric for 8 years, never had a problem. For longer trips, you plan charging around lunch and bathroom breaks, simple.
