That's not exactly true, it really comes down to the person, and a lot more men have past experience with being on fire.

A woman would pull out some bread and cheese and make some grilled cheese sandwiches with the fire so her husband would have something to eat once everything was okay. The man would take care of the fire by putting himself out, but of course he would have to wait until the sandwiches were done before putting out the woman.
