Pregnancy control would be better. Conception control just sounds weird.

Maybe it's because condoms used to be used as small trash bags to carry the aborted fetuses if they were taken from the womb early enough? And the pill was actually used for some pagon ritual to reverse the birth processes, so would absorb the infant life and gain life in the process? Does that make sense?

Well, technically condoms and the pill are called contraceptives which means that they prevent conception but most people just call it birth control.
