How often do elevators fly through the roof?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Our company knows 3 accidents in Europe. Can't give you a total though!

100% incorrect

All elevators have brakes going down. Fewer have them going up.

Zero have enough force to go through a roof

None have enough force to put a car through a roof.

It already happened. Counterweight was heavier than person+cabin. Weight went down and elevator shot through the roof.

Proof? And even if you have one example, did they die? And she every one you provide, how many have died from falling.... Hundreds. So you may have found one example but no, your aren't more likely to die from shooting through a roof

Legally not allowed to share details about it. For cable elevators it's still mandatory to have lots of security measurements in case of a fall but way less in case of shooting upwards.

You're * not it's. And yeah, you're correct.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Nah that would be a very mild impact with the roof, pretty sure it wouldn't even break it.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

The fact is, that elevators have very secure brakes going down but less than half have those for going up.

Look it up, it happens. I think the logic here is that there are a series of fail safes to slow an elevator that's falling but their arent any that slow an elevator that shoots upwards.
