But then we'd be dead, by either a direct meteor strike, maybe a flood due to a massive "Tsunami-esque" wave flooding the entire earth, or even some kind of massive volcanic eruption caused by a big crack in the earths crust..?

Oh yeah of course, but then those on the ISS wouldn't really be able to return to earth easily, at least not on a Dragon as I have some doubt that the side hatch can be opened from inside (unless is a nonstandard emergency switch somewhere hidden within the firmware of the craft..? <Have no doubts that Elon/other Engineers @ SpX has that covered as a possibility, but who knows in reality. ?>
