+70 In about 30 years, some senior citizens in retirement homes will be listening to gangster rap and grunge music. amirite?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I agree. But also this reminds me of a funny story. I use to work at a retirement home, and one resident would walk the halls everyday holding a boombox and play the same song over and over again everyday…what's the song you ask? Ghostbusters theme song 😆

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Some say they're still playing that boom box to this day.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Bustin makes me feel good

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I ain't ‘fraid of no ghost!

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I ain't afraid of no bed

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Freaky ghost bed!

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yeah yeeeaaahhh yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh

by Anonymous 2 years ago

a boombox is not a toy.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You gotta know your limits with a boom box.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Bold of you to assume there are some who don't currently bump Gangsters Paradise while getting their colostomy bag changed.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Run DMC was an early 80's group. There's conceivably some people in their 80's that were fans back then and still rocking out to King of Rock in a retirement home.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And... hang on to your seats... *playing video games* The mind boggles

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Gen X, the first generation to appreciate video gaming as a whole, are in their mid-50s now. Thus, I expect nursing homes to equip these elders with Ataris, NES's and soon Sega Genesis consoles.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Don't forget Super NES, N64, and gameboy!

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Slap me in a nursing home with a vr headset. Feed me every 12 hours and call it a day.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I was told I would grow out of my Metal phase in my teens. I'm 36 and as into as ever, I'm sure I'll still be listening at 66.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Lol I was told the same thing. I'm 51 and probably one of the most "metal" dudes you could ever meet but don't look it because I wear a suit and tie every day. When I'm not working I've got a drawer full of band t-shirts that I wear.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Awesome. You certainly validate my point. What are some bands you are into?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Definitely mellowed out over the years, still get the urge once in a while to throw some on and crank it

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yeah so did I. I still listen daily but I'm a "normal" adult you could say. The days of being in a serious band are over but I'd do it for fun if the right people came along.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

We're a few years away from ‘90s alt rock being used to sell various goods and services to a geriatric market. I am so not ready for that!

by Anonymous 2 years ago

"Hey there I'm Dave Grohl here for Omeprazole when I was on tour and rocking out.."

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Kinda reminds me of the part in Futurama where Leela refers to a Biggie Smalls song as "classical music"

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Um, the edgier ones who were in their thirties in the 90s already are.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I guarantee it's happening now

by Anonymous 2 years ago

When my late grandmother was living in her retirement community, my sister and I came and performed a bunch of music for them… Great American songbook stuff. Sinatra. Show tunes. Etc. As I was standing up there singing, I was thinking about how one day I'll be living in a nursing home and the activities director is going to hire someone to come in and play Toto, Huey Lewis, Van Halen, and a-Ha songs for us. We'll all smile from our wheelchairs and clap on the first and third beats.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Pop will always be pop

by Anonymous 2 years ago

My husband will be listening to NIN while I'll be playing *NSYNC

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Gen z will be listening to sorting algorithms and fart sounds.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That'll be me listening to juice wrld and X, lil peep, suicide boys etc lmao

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Playing Call of Duty 2052 telling the youngsters the gonna punch out their moms.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And playing PC games. My retirement play is to finally finish all the games in my steam library. Hopefully cruising in my self driving electric RV

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Lan parties at the retirement house!

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I'm trying to get gaming out of my system before I become deaf, blind, and crippled by arthritis and dementia.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Only one person needs to be 45+ to live in a retirement community so it probably happens already

by Anonymous 2 years ago

at least they would be in their headphones or ear pods.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

lol nah they won't be able to afford retirement

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And dubstep. It's weird to think that it will someday be considered old people's music.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

🎶 I'm standing in your line 🎶

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I do hope you have the time

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I just want a retirement home with Starcraft and 1.6 lans

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And their grandchildren will think of it as old people music.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

They already are.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

When I worked in a screen printing shop in the 90s out of high-school, my white, female boss, married to a retired logger and mechanic in a redneck town listened to NWA, 2 Live Crew and such with some Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd in the morning. It started me listening to rap and hip-hop from time to time while I work. I like to imagine that if she went into a retirement home she didn't give that up.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Hell yeah, we will be

by Anonymous 2 years ago

While the younger generations will be listening to the equivalent of mumble rapped emojis.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Funny to think that we'll ever get to retire...I'll probably be working until I keel over.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

In 5 years all that will be cool again in high school too. Just going back through the 80s again now.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Grunge Gang WY@? When it's my turn with the aux I'm playing Bush, every time

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yes, Nick Swardson had this exact joke in the early 00's. Ends with "Your Grandmother was a ho."

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I hate to tell you this, but someone that was 30 in 1990 is 62 today. This is like 10 years away from happening.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And trying to play Madden and Skyrim

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And care aids will be seeing our tramp stamps

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I also wonder if current teenage slang is going to be like old geezer talk.. #"Big up dem man *still*" "Okay grandad"

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Saw the Smashing pumpkins a few years ago in NE USa. There was a nice wheel chair friendly section, overpopulated with 70 year old fans. Made me feel old.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I'm 37...so in 30 years I'll definitly still bumpin DMX.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I think they will laugh at me as I blast As I Lay Dying's album, "An ocean between us," but it will actually be a plea for help that'll go unheard.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I don't think people who listen to gangsta rap or grunge music would want to even live in a retirement home

by Anonymous 2 years ago

...and covered in tattoos.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I think about this often… mainly because that's what I see myself doing 😂

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Playing rounds of "Guess what this tattoo used to be" then getting someone to help you stretch it out to show the answer.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You. Shut. Your. Face.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You're assuming that peoples taste won't change for 30 years

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Ugh. Old people and their classical music

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Street fighter tourneys, systems in the parking lot, blunt rolling contests. Ngl retirement looking pretty lit

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Grunge music was big like 30 years ago. Some 90's hipsters already in retirements homes.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Gangster rap came out in the late 80's early 90's. There's no reason a 30 year old in the 80's, that loved gangster rap, that is now in their 70's would love listening to it in their retirement home.
