I think I'd prefer the opposite here. I cant think of many things worse than waiting for your turn to die. It sounds like surviving just for the sake of it. That isnt living

Yeah that's understandable. I read a story about a female poisoner in Victorian times. She was granted like 4 stays of execution right at the last minute, last one allegedly literally on the scaffold with the noose around her neck. Her sentence got commuted to life in prison but that last shock drove her permanently mad. Very grim.
