+87 Seeing someone consume multiple beers at a Chili's at 9am is suspect. Move that Chili's to inside an airport and suddenly it's totally normal. amirite?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

If you are in a chili's at 9am, likely someone is going to be driving. At an airport, it's very unlikely someone is going to be driving for at least 2 hours.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Exactly. Why would someone wear a pilots uniform when they are about to drive.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Bingo, you can't get pulled over for dui in the air! But on a serious note how do we know it's not 5pm where the person in question had just flown in from

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Incorrect, most of the Chili's I've been in at this time were not moving. I don't even know HOW you drive a Chili's.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Tee hee

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Well, they may be driving the plane

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That's why they make flasks

by Anonymous 2 years ago

As someone who travels for business frequently, those 9am preflight beers are how I manage to get some peaceful sleep with no phone calls.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

>As someone who travels for business frequently, those 9am preflight beers are how I manage to get some peaceful sleep with no phone calls. But I bet your co-pilot doesn't appreciate it.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Only somebody whose job is important enough to travel all the time can drink those. So congrats

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Or afford those!

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Edibles are way better for this imo

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That's completely fair, but the frequency I have to cross jurisdictions and being in a "Safety Sensitive Position" I gotta watch out.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

For you maybe

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Stoners trying to go 7 minutes without mentioning pot

by Anonymous 2 years ago

And and you're getting calls while airborne?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Flight guarantees I don't, unlike sick days, vacation days, holidays, or night

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Not suspect when you work night shift

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yep, used to pop a beer and throw a steak on the grill and watch my neighbors go to work. (Of course they were doing the same when I was leaving ...)

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I lived in a small town. There was one bar that would open at 7am and serve the entire menu at happy hour prices until 9am. The place would be packed with us night shift workers. One of the many little ghost worlds I miss.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Agreed. That's why only "suspect".

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Well yeah, cause if I'm in the airport, I got nowhere else to be and nothing better to do.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

> if I'm in the airport, I got nowhere else to be You and I are very different people. :-)

by Anonymous 2 years ago

There are better places than Chillies to start day drinking at. Speaking as a former drunk of course. If I'm paying those prices for alcohol there better be a jukebox.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

In a bed with a handle of vodka for instance

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Are they even open at 9am? If so I'm gonna start having "coffee with the girls" there. They can have coffee and I can drink away their complaints.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I always assumed it's for nerves when at an airport.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I drink at airports because I like drinking and people won't judge me because they think it's for the nerves

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Don't your friends wonder why you keep inviting them for a night out at the airport?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Friends?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Oh... I'll come drinking with you at the airport if you like?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

That's sweet of you but no thanks

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I got you. Live 10 miles from Dulles. Catch a flight.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

For me it definitely is. Even at 9am I'll get a little toasty before boarding then hopefully sleep most of the flight.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Obligational 9am beer at the airport before a big trip, I do it every time

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I think the word you might want here is "obligatory". I'm not telling you to be "that guy". I'm telling because it's fun to say, and I think you might like it.

When I was in college, I worked on weekends as a Pinkerton guard. My shifts were midnight to 8 am Saturday and Sunday. Not too long after I got off, I'd head down to Barry's Bar & Grill. Nothing quite like looking out the window, watching everyone else scurrying off to work, while I had my bacon, eggs and beer(s). Glorious.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

TIL Pinkerton is still around

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I was at an airport Chili's at 6am back in December. A young couple wearing flip-flops and straw hats came in, did some shots, said something about Cuba, and were in and out before my breakfast even arrived. OP's story checks out.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

No one is in a Chili's in general if their life is going how they want it to.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

It could be 11pm in whatever time zone that person just flew in from

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Being at Chili's, at any hour; is suspect. I'm guessing that the folks who goes there are badly constipated and need help.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Airport drinking is the best. I say that despite the fact that I have missed two flights because of it.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Unless that person is a pilot.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning

by Anonymous 2 years ago

No, it's not. I don't care what anyone does at a Chili's but I do NOT want to get on and airplane with some drunk asshole.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

totally normal and expensive...

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Maybe they worked the night shift and just got off work

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I've been to more than a few 8am happy hours at bars for those who work night shift

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Even more suspect that Chili's is open at 9 AM

by Anonymous 2 years ago

This is why I hang out at airports.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Had no idea Chili's was even open at 9am

by Anonymous 2 years ago

So what your saying is alcoholism is ok in airports

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Misread that at 9pm and couldn't figure out why having two beers at night was a big deal. Oops.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Airport is vacation time! Chili's is sad time

by Anonymous 2 years ago

So I used to work nights while living in the south. I can't tell you how many dirty looks we'd get when coworkers and I would go out for a beer after work (9am).

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Great place for breakfast beers is Dennys .

by Anonymous 2 years ago

True. Vacation gives a I can drink all day attitude

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Uhh doesn't Chili's open at like 11:00

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Well, it's always happy hour 2 for 1.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Anything is normal in an airport, man. I'm honestly convinced that if Limbo exists, it looks like an airport.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

There's no rules in the airport.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Yup flew into Montreal a few times waiting for a flight at 7am was a bar at 4am beer in hand totally normal stuff.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

Seeing someone [sic] at a Chili's [sic] is suspect. There. Fixed it for you.
