If you shorten your life for like 10% and get 2 hours more a day being awake that's a good deal. Especially since you are trading the time when you are old and weak for time right now. I'll take it any day of the week.

Nooo, I needed to sleep, this is ridiculous,!!! I'm not even on drugs!!! Saw my oldest son for the 1st time in months, his brothers and I were ecstatic and had a ball, then Monday had a funeral for husband's uncle whom he donated a kidney to 10 yrs prior. Kidney made it but his heart went out. So drove th400 mile round trip drive Sunday an monday. I haven't slept since sat night. Stress sux!!!!t

If you're awake though, aren't you technically living longer? Are we really actually living while we are sleeping? I don't just mean existing though.

Yes, you're awake longer indeed.
But sleeping less than 6 hours a day may cause health issues, such as heart problems, inevitably causing you to die at a younger age. You are living, but you could live longer.
