+101 The most discriminated people, are homeless people, amirite?

Yeah we should have built more houses and affordable housing especially with the population boom. We just leave our poor and old and mentally ill and unstable out in the cold to die. They deserve a bed and a small room to call theirs at the least. The "affordable housing" and "section 8" process is hard to decipher and even sign up on the list for that people with degrees need help to figure it out. The process is confusing and the websites do about the same as applying for Florida unemployment or medicaid. The lists are years long. I've been homeless for a while and it's some awful stuff. People living in tents and on the sidewalk. I think we went wrong with some of this red tape and regulations. I'm sure they wouldn't like it, but just having some kind of roof over your head and some walls and a bed makes a huge difference. Trust me. I'd rather live in a bug ridden shack with no toilet than just be on a sidewalk in the cold.

Dude most homeless people (this comes from working with a lot of these people) CHOOSE to be homeless. And to be honest most of them completely suck.

This is what people fail to realise..... a lot of the time homelessness is a choice. But you can't say it out loud because it hurts people's feelings (usually people living in a nice warm home with spare rooms where they choose not to home some of the poor homeless people).

Exactly. They have state resources they can use and most choose not to use them. The homeless shelters here aren't even filled but there are homeless everywhere.

People can't fathom why someone would choose to be homeless, or choose to do drugs. So they waste there effort thinking the homeless are just like them and if they only had money and treatment they'd be just like them. They're often wrong.

What do you mean they choose? They had houses and gave up on them, or refuse to go home?

by Anonymous 2 years ago

I think they start out by being taken advantage of. They give up because of the cruelness of reality. Life isn't fair, so why try. No matter how hard they work. They will never drive the Lamborghinis that pass by, they will never afford the apartments they walk past. ..And one bad experience of dealing with an over privileged , rich person who inherented their wealth is enough to send them into an irreversible metal break down. Why would they try? They would be dead if they didn't try. They have already tried and failed.... Psychologically it's less depressing to NOT try. They are content with nothing because your expectations cause them pain.

Don't forget about the straight white Christian males. I've been told they're being persecuted against

Lmao

They are actually the least - laws don't apply to them. Get drunk and pee on the street by a cop. As a non homeless see if they look the other way. You will get arrested.

What?

I would like to disagree

I disagree, being homeless would have to be stressful and unhealthy. Homeless people are discriminated against, there are hate crimes against them. Yet, there are so many other groups of people out there. // "Examples of such groups can include, and are almost exclusively limited to ethnicity, disability, language, nationality, physical appearance, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation.[2][3][4] Non-criminal actions that are motivated by these reasons are often called "bias incidents". " // wikipedia For example, there are hate crimes and bias incidents against Muslims, Blacks, women, gays, and transgenders. Finally, there is intersectionality. Meaning a person can belong to more than one of these groups. I think there is much more discrimination against other groups. For example, according to statista there was 2,871 hate crimes against Black people. This is why Black Lives Matter is such an important movement, and why I support BLM. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hate_crime https://www.statista.com/topics/4178/hate-crimes-in-the-united-states/#dossierKeyfigures
