I (and my wife) always "clean" my house before it's professionally cleaned. I pay those people to deep clean my floors, bathrooms, and kitchen. I'm not paying them $50 an hour to pick my kids stuffed animals up off the floor.

It is not their job to be a parent. I think I would only do this if I was completely exhausted and needed a break, pay the little extra to get things pampered.
