Incorrectly ringing up items at self checkout is not your fault because you never received the proper training, amirite?

If you don't know how to do something, you generally ask for help.

In the past, all gas pumps were full service. Eventually, most states got rid of it. People surely complained when they had to start pumping their own. But does anybody make the cliche jokes about it like they do with self-checkout lanes? "Where's my paycheck for pumping my own gas? heh heh"

Sidenote: If people truly value the service a cashier provides, then they should tip their cashier.

I can never find the expensive apples on the scanner, so I am forced to enter the red delicious instead.

Are you worried about making mistakes or are you justifying stealing something? I don't understand why it matters.

"This isn't a banana?"

It's your fault for choosing to use equipment you aren't trained to use. Go to a cashier, they have the training to handle customers of all levels of cognition.

So since other people steal more it's ok for you to steel a little? I agree corporate greed has run rampant... Still not a reason to intentionally take something from a store... again that is theft no matter how you try to spin it.

I feel no guilt stealing from the rich. They make more money back to cover their losses and still have profit.

@tonywonderslostnut I feel no guilt stealing from the rich. They make more money back to cover their losses and still have profit.

so if a homeless person sees you as rich, are they justified in stealing from you?

it not that I have any love for billionaires but you say it's ok to take from them because they have more, there are millions of immigrants that are justified in taking everything in America because we have exploited them for our own luxuries.

you are thinking about yourself and not realizing there are tons and tons of people that see Americans as rich.

If they're stealing something as simple as an apple or a pair of jeans from me, I'll even give them a couple more

If the store uses sticker barcodes for items, just take a sticker from a cheap item, put it on an expensive item, you know the rest :)

Thanks for justifying theft. It just raises the prices for everyone else. Why not just steal an old women's car after she put her groceries in it? Then you have a ride home too!

Yep worked retail for a large supermarket chain. Theft is factored into the sell price of items.
