You don't have to like it, but you do need to determine what your limits actually are.

I am referring to working out a muscle to the point where you can no longer perform the exercise.

Failure means that you are trying! Keep right on failing my friend! For real tho, that last rep like somebody has a gun to your head!

If you fail while lifting weights, there's a pretty good chance you'll severely injure yourself or possibly worse, so I'm not sure why it's good to fail there.

Not if you

  • drop the weight when you realize you can't safely lift it
  • let the weight down on the safety bars that are there for that purpose.

Failure is good in many instances. Failure can be used to motivate and inspire you to be better, so you dont fail again.

Actually the pattern of weight lifting is useful for many areas of life: progressing to the point of failure induces growth.
