+137 Those who argue bicycles shouldn't share the road with cars because of the weight difference are okay that cars share the road with 80,000-pound 18-wheelers. amirite?

I'm not ok with either, not that you're actually asking. I don't think bicycles should be allowed on roads with speed limits over 35mph and I don't think semis should use the same roads as cars. No amount of safe driving makes a person biking down the middle of a 55mph lane at 15mph ok. No amount of safe driving makes a car being crushed by a semi ok.

Finally. Someone smart here.

Yeah but a car is able to go the same speed as an 18wheeler. Last I checked, even a pro cyclist can't match a cars speed.

I'm more concerned with the maximum probable speed difference than I am with weight.

Roads that are parallel to main arteries should be only for "small wheels". Bicycles, rollarblades, rollarskates, skate boards, scooters, and whatever else I am missing. No vehicles.
