+174 Celebrating independence and feeedom with fireworks triggers PSTD in veterans who fought for it, amirite?

Yes it does. My father struggled terribly with it when I was a child. The noise was bad, but it was the smell of burnt gunpowder was the thing that he said was the biggest trigger.

I do not remember who in my family said it... could have been my granddad or uncle but they mentioned smoke haze and flashes. I know nothing about ptsd but I assume almost any sense can be a trigger.

"The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more." -John Adams in a letter to his wife. We may have the date wrong, and leave out the religious aspects for the most part, but John sorta laid it out for us, and far be it from me to go against the wishes of a Founding Father.
