The difference is that, you're holding a tangible physical card, and the publishers can't just turn off the server amd make your card disappear.

It's about the first and I take it as people's first contact with loot boxes. My guess would be most start with trading cards over the lottery.

Did you know that the lottery was created before trading cards in human history? So the first example of it in history was lottery.

Yes. I think we might find more of that stuff before the lottery was created with that same concept. I just think that wasn't the idea behind starting this.
