As a lizard's tail always grows back, they always have an emergency source of protein. amirite?

This is true I suppose but in the most useless way lol. It would certainly take more energy to grow the tail back than would be gained eating it.

This. Not only that, but some lizard can't even regrow their tail after losing it, and some take a good chunk of their lifetime growing it.

Really, most creatures including humans need more calories than protein. As such, in an emergency, you can get a few eating your fingernails. Don't worry, they will grow back too.
