+157 The annoying thing about being high iq is constantly having profound ideas but no one to share them with because most people don't understand, amirite?

If you're always the smartest person in the room, you're spending an awful lot of time in the wrong rooms.

Or being alone

Having a high IQ is not causation for having profound ideas. They *can* be *correlated* , but that's as far as the relationship goes. IQ measures the ability to reason and problem solve; those are not essential processes to manifest a profound idea. *Creativity* is necessary for a profound idea.

I have the opposite, I'll say something extremely stupid and my dad will call me a genius

It's nice to be the smartest guy in the room once in a while.... it is miserable to be that all the time.

''The annoying thing about being high iq is constantly having profound ideas but no one to share them with because most people don't understand'' Spoken like an idiot with no actual understanding of how being ''high iq'' works.

I mean, he could've just said intelligence and he would've been fine. I'm fairly stupid but I'm pretty sure that iq and intelligence are different things. We all make mistakes, I don't blame OP for mixing them up.

My son has this issue. He is in his last year of high school and already accepted to several universities for Astrophysics. Watching any sort of tv show or movie with him about Space or physics in general is very interesting.

Nah, it's constantly having completely reasonable and perfectly obvious ideas and having nobody else understand them, even after you explain the very simple chain of logic.

If you cannot explain your ideas in plain terms, then you don't really understand the idea yourself.

I tried to follow what OP was trying to say but I don't understand it.

The smartest people who understand what they are talking about can often explain complex ideas in simple terms. People out of their depth often struggle with explaining things.
