+117 Acting is the least difficult art, which requires minimal talent. That's why there are so many famous actors who are children of famous actors. amirite?

Disagree it takes a lot of effort to pretend to be someone you're not and have a completely diffrent personality

Even switch accents. Imagine growing up your entire life surrounded by British people, with a thick British accent, then being told to perfect an American accent for a role.

Yes I know I've heard some actors that sound completely different when they talk for interviews it's a very underrated thing

by Anonymous 1 year ago

They have tonnnnnes of retakes they can do to make it perfect in the dub, as you probably know they have to dub the voice after they shoot.

Couldn't it also be because it's too similar? If your parents are any sort of artists, then your style could be mirror of theirs. If your music or painting style is same as your parents, then you're just another copycat. As long as original is there, why would anyone get a "replica"? Acting is different. If it's good acting then it's a good acting. No one care if one actor's acting style is same as other actor.

OP didnt get the role they wanted.🤣😭

Nepotism doesn't imply acting isn't difficult. They're just well connected, bad actors.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's professional pretending. There are many people who are great at it, but don't have the right look, or anyone famous in their life to get them in.

After watching E.T Audition on YouTube , i know im not in that league , nor will i ever be. Acting is flawless when u forget they play a role ...

Those who are good at what they do, make it look easy.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Acting is actually hard. Actors trying to cry while wearing green dots spandex and talking to a tennis ball while a bunch of people are standing around with cameras. Two hungover workers from craft services are just off screen chatting about their fun night of ketamine and bar hopping

Acting is a very difficult art that requires years of training. Hollywood does not sell acting it sells pretty people. Ryan Reynolds is not a good actor he is an attractive man.

So you've never been in a theater 1 class

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I mean Aaron Paul strikes me as an exception to your rule. Dude showed up to breaking bad with little to no acting experience, had never gone to school or taken a class if I remember correctly. That guy can ACT, and it seems to be pure talent.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

So why aren't you a famous actor then?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Because I save myself for the hard stuff.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The you're an idiot, you realise the money they make and you think it's easy. You're wasting your time

I would say there is a difference between the acting say Daniel Day Lewis does and the acting Zach Effron does. No one is going to see Daniel Day Lewis to see his abs. A lot of acting is just looking good for the camera. But there are people like DDL or Philip Seymour Hoffman who turn it into a much more complex artistic thing. I recommend you try theater if you want to see what real acting looks like as opposed to most Hollywood acting

As an actor myself, and not to disagree, I would just point out a couple of things. First, in some research surveys, many people say they fear public speaking more than death itself. Second, actors in film & TV often work 12+ hours. If you think acting isn't difficult, try acting like you're not tired after 14 hours on the set. Finally, I would suggest trying to direct a non-actor in an acting role some time. Acting comes easy to me, but there are definitely people out there who struggle to deliver even one line.

You seem to forget how important already having connections is when trying to break on to the scene. It's not that acting is easy or hard, the actors with parents who were actors gets them in the door and the attention other people are fighting for. Also that example dismisses all the nameless crowds of people you never hear about who tried to make it and failed.

Umm.. No. This is such a shallow take.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

How many of those children are actually talented and successful though?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Acting is incredibly difficult to do well. Unfortunately, we don't live in a meritocracy, and the children of actors who get famous aren't famous because acting is easy, but becase they already have the money and connections necessary to make it. Just because you're talented and deserve to be famous doesn't mean you will be. It's like visual art. There are thousands of extremely talented artists on social media who make stunning landscapes, amazing photorealistic portraits or really impressive 3D worlds. But the art that gets famous and ends up in books and gets sold for 14M$ is the canvas with a red dot in the middle.

I would say that indicates it is weighted a lot more toward talent, rather than just hard work, on the spectrum of 'who will get good enough to do this professionally' having a ratio of talent vs hard work required.

Have you ever seen a really bad actor? That's most of us.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Something something correlation versus causation.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

For theatric plays, no. For movies, yes.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And yet so many listen to actors and athlete for political and world issues..

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You'd be a good actor. As Babe.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

yeah this is insane. Being a good let alone great actor is extremely difficult and pretty rare.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Agreed man. I mean, acting isn't particularly easy, but compared to something like learning an instrument and then learning how to write songs and then having the natural tone of voice if you song as well, and THEN being able to record it well AND perform it well?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

As someone who has had so many people attempt and fail miserably to lie to my face, you are just so tremendously wrong.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You've never seen tiny budget indie films on Amazon. Or The Room with Tommy Wiseau

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Acting is mostly about looks and confidence

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That's not true at all. Acting isn't just a profession, it's a way of life. You have to live and breathe it otherwise you won't progress. There's so many exercises, so many layers of complex emotions that actors have to reach. You have to train yourself to reach difficult memories and emotions and use them to your advantage. There's a reason a lot of actors have mental health issues. I'm
