I think it also depends on the type of line, food I'm fine with one person holding the spot for a whole party, rides I'm fine with it assuming the party isn't too big, limited event/sales only for a very short amount of time like 10 minutes or so.

The food/concession one drives me crazy. If I join a line with three people in front of me and then one of those people has six other people walk up and join them it means I have to wait that much longer as they all get their order in. That's completely wrong.

Nah.. bathroom quick is one thing - "I'll stand here while the other 5 in my party go off / show up last minute" I don't agree with.

I say if the line is moving slow enough to even need a bathroom or smoke break, then you're more than entitled to leave your place in the line and return to it
