+31 Saying "bless you" after you sneeze is unnecessary and a waste of time. amirite?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

"A waste of time". That half a second every few days really add up quick.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Sure does bud soon we're talking weeks and months of unnecessary speaking. Totally pointless. Really does add up when you think about it lol

by Anonymous 1 year ago

There is a LOT of unnecessary speaking that adds up to wasted time having to hear it, or even ignoring it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Oh yeah. I'm sure by the time people are in their 60's they'll be thinking "boy, I sure wished I never said bless you to people"

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It adds up bud I'm telling you

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Over the course of 60 years it's like what. A few weeks? A month at max? I'm not going to care even remotely enough for that. Probably spend more time scratching itches to care. Also, if that's the kind of thing to worry me. A bigger worry is I have nothing else better to occupy my mind with. It's just too insignificant. A of seconds a day will add up to a larger amount but by the time you've done that, you're compairing it to something MUCH larger and it'll still be equally as insignificant. A couple of second over the course of a day is 14 seconds in a week. That's 85 minutes in a year. I've way more things to worry about (good and bad) than what I did with an hour and a half over a year. I won't even remember the vast majority of them.

Assuming you used 1 second a day every day to say "bless you", after 60 years you will have spent just over 6 hours saying it. Idk where y'all are getting weeks and months 🤦🏼‍♀️

by Anonymous 1 year ago

If you say bless you once everyday and it takes one second, by the time you're 60, it would have taken up a grand total of 6 hours. Wow. So much time saved. Not to mention the concept of saying a phrase "wastes" time is stupid. As if you have to drop everything and put all of your focus on saying bless you. If saying two words prevents you from doing anything else at the same time, you have bigger problems than trying to conserve a few hours of your life.

Adds up how? You gettin roll over time?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Big time bro

by Anonymous 1 year ago

If you conscider this a waste of time, maybe you need to slow your life down a bit.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Moving too fast sometimes you gotta slow down a little and take it all in. Good call.

A waste of time? What do you do that is so important that you can't take a singular second to say something?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

wow what a mad lad, how crazy choosing not to do stuff

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's actually a cultural thing I heard. They say bless you so you don't potentially get sick cause sneezing is sometimes related to sickness or getting sick

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Actually it stems from the idea that when you sneeze your soul escapes, by saying bless you to someone it ensures that doesn't happen. It's entirely unnecessary but that's why people do it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Oh yeah I've heard of that, also in China it is believed that when you sneeze someone's talking ILL about you which I find weird, but I haven't looked deep into it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The superstition are really weird but also interesting.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Watch out we got a rebel over here

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You don't even know the half of it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You are sooooo good looking.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Changed your title "People wishing you well after you show signs of ill health is unnecessary and a waste of time"

by Anonymous 1 year ago

When you release gas you're supposed to say 'excuse me', noone needs to do that for you. In terms of sneezing 'bless you' is just due to superstition, you don't have to say it, noone will be mad you're good.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Well I'm glad someone understands

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's a nice gesture to say it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Why is it nice to say though?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Don't say it then

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I won't!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's a cultural thing to prevent your soul from leaving your body when you sneeze. It's just manners to say it. It's just a polite thing to do. Not saying your soul actually will leave your body, it's just an old belief. Also it takes like a second of your time, if you genuinely do not have time to say that after a sneeze you need to rethink your time usage

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Whose time is wasted and why do you care?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Ok probably a stretch to say waste of time. I get it used to be a tradition for spiritual reasons or whatever but it just seems silly to me to acknowledge bodily functions.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Great opinion, I don't actually agree on this particular one, but I totally get the sentiment - I think it falls into the same camp as when people say "Say hi to X from me" - what a waste of time, no I won't, get in contact yourself if you like them so much!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

My grandma told me on her deathbed that her only regret was telling people bless you, she said she could've study to be a doctor during all that time. Cmon, this is not unpopular is just stupid

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Saying bless you takes 3 seconds Assuming the average person says bless you three times a month That would be 144 minutes in 80 years.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

If my bitch say "bless you" when you sneeze, you can have her

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I don't want her!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's actually just rude.
