The voters have decided that Milkzey is right! Vote on the post to say if you agree or disagree.

Youre missing important facts....

Tractors are designed to traverse loose soil of plowed fields and even with their weight have surprisingly low ground pressure ratios

A Hyundai Santa Fe has sumping like a 205 kpa ground pressure and many large tractors have less than 100

In my opinion no, they shouldn't. Faming is an essential industry don't what to make faming for difficult for them.

They do have to be registered here, so apparently some places agree with you lol

They drive slowly bc they're not allowed to drive faster than 45km.....

Tractors as big as you are taking about are very slow. I don't think many people would choose a tractor as their preferred method of travel. If you see a tractor on the road it's not going far I promise. There are not enough tractors on the roads for this to be an issue.

Yeah, it can be really annoying to get behind a slow tractor, but most of them are only going to another field just down the road.

The alternative would be to get a trailer that can carry the tractor, a truck that can tow said trailer and tractor, and keep hooking it up to haul the tractor less than a mile down the road.

You don't think they could register a tractor? And do like a wide load sign or something?

They probably could, but what would it really accomplish? Forcing them to pay more to get their equipment to where it needs to be? Or force some of them to simply sell out any acreage that isn't attached to their main land?

Beyond that, the owners of the tractors already DO pay taxes to use the roads, through all the various taxes they pay as land owners, income earners, and so on. They just don't pay for that tractor specifically.

Well they arent technically street legal sooo…..
