Honest question not trying to be a dick but understand it might come off dickish..if women really wanted pockets wouldn't a woman make a company or a brand that makes it? If there's such a demand for it hard to believe no one has capitalized on this market.
eh, there's a lot of women's stuff at REI, L.L. Bean, Dickies and Carhartt's. Banana Republic still sells baggy faux safari clothes too.
but traditional women's bags like Coach and stuff are virtually indestructable and made of horse furniture and yacht hardware, you can move free weights in those things, you don't need pockets
Apparently, women's pockets were originally separate pieces that were tied on and hung between the petticoat and skirt. A slit in the skirt would allow access to them, and they could be used with different dresses. They were very common due to their practicality.
This is an interesting concept - is it a pocket if it's not attached to something else? Is a pouch really a pocket? Or is a pocket a pouch directly attached to some form of clothing?
I think a pocket is a pouch integral to a garment. But what we call a pouch today was called a purse, like a leather circle tied up with your coins in it and hung off your belt
This is what I'm thinking. A belt with a couple pouches on it seems like a logical first step. The someone must've been like "i think I'll put some leg sheaths on this pouch belt."
A sewn in pocket is the natural next step after the coin pouch and tool pouches on aprons. I imagine the first people to have interior sewn on pockets were people like merchants and traders who would want to be able to store valuable goods on them safely
Like sliced bread. We've always had some version of it, but someone came by and made it a lot more convenient to use. Some would say less enjoyable though
Deeper pockets would be a revolutionary implementation for women's clothes
What is the point of a pocket that won't hold a cellular phone or a mass market paperback?
Jnco entered the chat.
This is why I find the big phone trend annoying
Just not for ladies because apparently they don't need pockets or deserve real pockets or whatever
_welp, someone needs to revolutionize women's pants because apparently they have no pockets according to my wife_
For real, probably came shortly after the invention of the forward pass
Probably multiple points in human history. I can't imagine a bunch of different cultures not inventing them independently
And women's clothing manufacturers are still living in the Dark Ages.

Turns out pockets were history's first fashion statement
[fill in the blank] was a revolutionary invention at one point in human history.

Hot Pockets?
Wheels on luggage. It's amazing how long that took.
You read the book too?
I bet you're real fun at parties
Rocks were a revolutionary invention at one point in human history
Pockets were probably invented before clothes. At least in the sense of a pouch or bag for carrying small items.

I read the title as Rockets and was very confused to see everyone talking about womans pants.
So was sliced bread.
And Betty White was five years old when sliced bread was invented.
