I think it's safe to say that everyone is suffering in some way. It may be something small, like a blister from walking a lot on your amazing vacation, or big, like being homeless and mentally ill with no possibility of fixing either situation, but EVERYONE is suffering, so the best approach is to be kind and don't judge someone by your own standards of what constitutes pain that is "valid".
