Carpets are also warm, deaden sound, aren't slippery, don't hurt as much when you fall on them. Don't have them in rooms where they are likely to get wet and they are pretty good
by Anonymous2 years ago
Nah, nasty. Unless you dust your carpets on the regular they're probably full of dust and whatever else.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You should be regularly cleaning your house in the first place. A little bit of dust in the carpet is the least of my worries.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Obviously. But I don't see why that would be least of your worries. Cleaning the carpet/floor is a significant part of home cleaning.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Cus dust isn't a huge problem in my house, and cleaning the carpet doesn't take much time.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Taking the carpet out and dusting it on the regular seems like a massive ordeal if the carpet is big.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Which is where my feet go. I'm not eating off my floors so they don't need to be sterile. That doesn't change those other advantages
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah that's like letting mold grow in your bathroom because you don't eat off the tiles. Still nasty.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Then continue being terrified of the dust in carpet I guess. Though realise human beings are built a little bit tougher than that, right? We used to live outside.
Or use a hoover.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah humans used to be ridden with parasites too. Sure we can survive living next to highways in massive air pollution too, never brush our teeth and eat only pasta and crisps. Doesn't mean that it's a good idea though.
by Anonymous2 years ago
wear socks lol, who cares about sound seriously, learn how to walk lol,

How are carpets a magnet for pee? It doesn't seem to be an issue at my house on the carpets or the hardwood. Lots of other stuff can make them gross but unless you use a chamber pot I'm not understanding why pee in the carpeted areas of most homes would be an issue.
I did rent a place once that had a carpeted bathroom. I wasn't a fan. I did make a bigger effort with aim though.
by Anonymous2 years ago
>How are carpets a magnet for pee?
You ever try standing on a carpet and peeing? It's like the pee is being pulled toward it by some invisible force! /s
by Anonymous2 years ago
I have a senior dog and accidents happen. It's super rare, but my point is I can't take pissed on carpet outside for a wash.
by Anonymous2 years ago
that's why my family got rid of most of the carpet, we legit just keep it in our bedrooms, that's it.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Agreed, I passionately hate carpets. They're totally awful.
by Anonymous2 years ago
A few things
1. Shampooing a carpet is very easy
2. Carpets are MUCH easier in your feet and back
by Anonymous2 years ago
Carpets are also significantly warmer.
by Anonymous2 years ago
They are gross, but hardwood floors make me feel guilty when I don't clean them once a week
by Anonymous2 years ago
Is this you admitting you don't vacuum your carpet as often as once a week, but you're ok with it because you can't see it on carpet?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Absolutely
by Anonymous2 years ago
carpets look nasty after 2 days lol and its a lot more damaging and time consuming to clean carpet then a wood floor
by Anonymous2 years ago
yeah i think carpet should just be in bedrooms. and i think people do carpet vs other flooring is because it's cheap and easy to install
by Anonymous2 years ago
It's great for apartment buildings to reduce noise between floors
by Anonymous2 years ago
I've noticed a trend in rentals having carpets. It's like they use it as an excuse to keep your deposit when it inevitably gets stained.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yeah, that's why it's always that light brown color. It's also why the walls are usually white.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Whos pissing on a carpet ? 🤣
by Anonymous2 years ago
There's piss in your carpet?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Wait. Who's pissing on the carpet?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Carpet in the bedroom is superior to anything else
by Anonymous2 years ago
What are you doing to your carpets that they're getting all that stuff in them???
by Anonymous2 years ago
> Carpets are magnets for crap, piss, dust, dirt, food, and so much more
Why are you crapping and pissing on your floors? And yes, a vacuum will get dust, dirt, and food out of the carpet. That's why people vacuum their carpets.
> Getting a carpet shampooed is a pain in the ass.
…. Do you mean getting a carpet *shampooer*? Because they're sold pretty much everywhere that sells vacuums.
> If you want something soft to stand on, buy a rug
So, have hard floors that need to be swept and mopped, plus rugs that still need to be vacuumed plus taken out and beaten and hosed down. Just adding layers of work for yourself.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You can also rent carpet cleaning machines, so it's not like you need to go to someone who cleans carpets for a cleaning
by Anonymous2 years ago
Scooting around the floor to leave a discharge snail trail doesn't feel as good on hard wood tho :/
by Anonymous2 years ago
If your vacuum sucks or you suck at cleaning, just say so !
by Anonymous2 years ago
I suck at cleaning
by Anonymous2 years ago
Carpets make for a less noisy floor and won't feel cold when walking bare foot. They are also less vulnerable to physical damage like scratches (ex: from furniture).
Those are the upsides. As you note, hard surfaces also have upsides. Everyone must make their choice, but I prefer carpet overall.
Specific rooms might have a purpose better suited for one or the other.
Carpets in bedrooms for sure, hard surface in bathroom and kitchen. Other rooms are closer calls.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You can come out of the closet if don't like the carpet. /j
by Anonymous2 years ago
Carpets are beautiful.
Old nasty unkept dirty carpets are gross.
Don't blame the carpet bro!
by Anonymous2 years ago
I just really like to vacuum to be honest. There is something so satisfying about seeing all the dirt come out and the way freshly vacuumed carpet looks.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I don't know what it is called but I have a carpet cleaner that is really easy to use it is like a vacuum but it cycles water and soap the carpet is just damp for an hour or so.
by Anonymous2 years ago
What if you're poor and your floor is uneven? I'm sorry I can't afford wood floor.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I actually really hate the feeling of hard floors, because they're constantly covered in dust and if you get any bit of dirt on them, it's a horrible feeling on bare feet. They need to be cleaned way more often than carpet. I know carpet just hide that stuff, but I'd rather have that. I hate how every place is just going hard flooring now. I would honestly rip it out and put in carpet. Also, I have back problems that are made worse by hard surfaces, so carpet is my friend haha
by Anonymous2 years ago
I can't wipe my rectum on laminate.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I will always side with this unpopular opinion. And when carpeting is rampant in the kitchen or a bathroom? Don't even get me started...
by Anonymous2 years ago
Is this unpopular? Carpets are antiquated means of insulation that these days only serve to capture alergens, mites, dust and so on and redistribute it into the air.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I don't love wall to wall carpet, but area rugs are a MUST.
I absolutely hate cold hard floors throughout a whole apartment or house. Houses that are entirely tile floors make me gag.
It looks bare and sparse. I'm not a Spartan.
Area rugs are easier to clean if you want to send them away. Otherwise, but yourself a little portable carpet cleaner and you're good to go.
by Anonymous2 years ago
As someone who's allergic to dust, I agree.
by Anonymous2 years ago
More important question: why the hell are you crapping and pissing in any room with a carpet?
by Anonymous2 years ago
My entire place is hardwood, outside of surface rugs. They are easy to spot clean. I just toss them after a couple years.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I got rid of all mine because of allergies.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Totally agree! Only reason why my whole house isn't carpet is cause I can't afford it!
by Anonymous2 years ago
Agreed. I want a marble floor
by Anonymous2 years ago
i agree, carpets taste gross. never again
by Anonymous2 years ago
carpets are gross hard to clean and get damaged every time you clean them
by Anonymous2 years ago
It's an unpopular opinion, but I agree 100%. While installing wood floors, I took out carpeting. It was horrible underneath. Now, I have an all tile house (different place from above) Yes, we have a few area rugs, but they can be cleaned fairly easily.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Dust and food can be vacuumed. Don't wear your outdoor shoes on indoor carpet and dirt is avoided. Don't piss on your carpet.
I don't see how its the carpet's fault people are disgusting
by Anonymous2 years ago
Underlying problem is people wearing their shoes on carpet. The amount of stuff that you stepped in that is now stuck to the carpet... No thanks!
Plus it's damn comfortable to take your shoes off. Beyond being courteous, take yo shoes off at the door.
by Anonymous2 years ago
My in-laws have a rug under their dining room table that my kids have spilled every kind of beverage and food on and puked on multiple times. Whenever we go over there for dinner I kind of want to offer to help them roll up the rug during dinner and put it back later but I also don't want to tell them how to live their lives.
by Anonymous2 years ago
This is not an unpopular opinion. Carpets are disgusting.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Id rather trip and fall on carpet than a wood, tile or concrete floor. Lot less painful
