+153 Our standard morality is against our biological nature, amirite?

Its natural to have gay sex but not biologically intended (for humans) . Like male nipples you know. They have no biological purpose but are natural.

If men didn't have nipples, then how would you torture Mel Gibson?

That's why it's morality. If standard morality wasn't at least partly against our biological nature, we wouldn't need someone to spell out the rules. We would just do it. But that doesn't mean that it's all just worthless, made-up crap. From an evolutionary perspective, morality is a form of cooperation that enables us to function well in groups, thereby increasing our chances of survival.

You are confusing your religious indoctrination with the real world.

>It means it's in our nature as one of the animals (according to science) to do such things. Just because it happens in nature, doesn't mean that it is in **our** nature. Also, if your going to claim that "according to science", you might want to drop a citation or two. >People who insist that they are not an animal is the same people who says that they came from Eve and Adam, who were created by their so called God \*are the same people. Religion and science aren't mutually exclusive. It's 2022, I figured we'd be over beating this dead horse by now.

>I figured we'd be over beating this dead horse by now. Making sure it doesn't come back to life in 3 days

In some cases they are exclusive though. Like when the biblical story is clearly an overexaggeration or contradicting itself a few chapters later.

If morality and nature needed to be the same thing, we wouldn't need to philosophize about morality or take action to improve human society, it would just naturally fall together and the people who colored outside the lines would stick out much more.

Just as our instincts are the result of our bodies working to preserve themselves, our morals are the result of society as a whole working to preserve itself. As such, if you feel it would be a more favorable lifestyle to have all the sex you could ask for, all you would need to do is emancipate yourself and as many as possible of the opposite sex from that society.

just because dolphins or cheetahs do something doesn't mean that those standards are hardwired into homo sapiens.

Same sex relationships exist all through the mammalian kingdom. Including humans. It's natural.

Morality isn't real though. It's just a word we made up to describe the phenomenon of social groups such as humans to protect themselves by doling out social punishments. It's not really based in anything and is very self-motivated by the people in power.
