Avatar 2 should be considered an animated film, amirite?

Same with the "live action" lion king remake

I think it often is. I've heard it called the highest grossing animated film ever.
I think of it as a live-action styled animated film.

On wikipedia it is actually called "photo realistic computer animated remake"

I heard that was a thing but luckily dodged seeing it. I'll just use my imagination for how bad that must have been

The first shot of that movie is real, so technically it is live action. But I agree with you.

In WALL-E you have a short video of a real person as one of the captain's, does that make WALL-E a live action movie?

But that just means, like, 0.1% of the movie is live action.
Loads of 'live action' movies have short animated sequences and interludes and no one would call them animated films because of it. So the inverse is true. The Lion King remake is almost entirely CGI animation.

You know , the soviet Treasure Island had some lengthy live action segments, with actors, songs and stuff, but it is still considered an animated movie.
