What specific incident? I can't find anything about it.

I seem to recall several players having others take their tests for them but I may be thinking of a different school. Ohio State has had so many violations it's hard to keep them straight

Corruption is everywhere ....

The entire economy of unpaid student athletes is deeply unethical to begin with.

They get paid through scholarships…. They can go straight to professional sports if they want and are good enough. If they're not good enough, they go to college and get 4 years of training and skill improvements. Seems like any other undergrad degree to me.
If they choose college and didn't need it, that's on them.

This is what I find upsetting. If it's basketball or baseball, sure, there are risks, and they should be paid. But in football and hockey, they are risking their health and lives, and they are compensated nothing.

Not to mention most of these players get thrown out like month old meatloaf if they get an injury playing the incredibly dangerous game they are required to play to pay for their education.

I remember watching Friday night lights the movie and they did a what happened to them after the movie . A lot went to college football and ended up doing stuff like truck driving.
You don't make pro you don't get much

They are being paid with the recent legislation surrounding NIL, some up to several million dollars. Even before that, they were being paid with free tuition, housing, food, education, physical training, consultation with specialist doctors, and a track to a career that pays a high six-figure salary at minimum. Let's not pretend like there was some legalized mass slave labor deal going on.

I kinda just don't get it. Why do people take it so seriously? It's like being obsessed with minor league baseball. And I like going to minor league baseball games but it's not something to get worked up about.

Because these guys are the future of the NFL. If you care about the sport, you'll care about prospects that might change the game. Also cheering for you home state, alma mater etc.

& a scam. wait til you find out how much funding is being poured into college football. & where it's going

Multi-billion dollar professional sports industries using the American education system (from grade school up to college) as their farm teams has a noxious corrupting effect on education as a whole.

Agreed. The best you could say is that there are less egregious offenders than others.

i love nfl football but college football is so boring to me

The NCAA is a pretty corrupt organization but it does seem to be getting a little better. But college athletics are pretty important so I think they just need a lot of reform.
