Sneakers with your formalwear look like horsesh-t, amirite?
by Anonymous2 years ago
They prolly switch at the office.
by Anonymous2 years ago
There are a lot of people that do this, especially when using public transportation, walking or biking.
Even Mr. Rogers changed his shoes.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I casually wear Chelsea boots all the time and I think they are comfier than sports shoes. Also they are waterproof. I guess tho that would wear them down a lot faster than switching them, plus you don't have to clean them then.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Clean your shoes, makes you look much sharper
by Anonymous2 years ago
They are clean lol
by Anonymous2 years ago
I feel there should be a set of "Mr. Rogers' Rules" that we should all live by - itemized and enforced.
by Anonymous2 years ago
It's insane to me that this isn't common sense
by Anonymous2 years ago
I had to do this in Chicago because snow/crappy streets, salt. It will ruin dress shoes which I'm expected to wear at work.
by Anonymous2 years ago
My dad had rubber coverings that went over his dress shoes. They were like little booties. I think it was pretty smart, since they gave him traction and protected his shoes.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Especially this time of year (in the northern hemisphere)
by Anonymous2 years ago
Ocular justice!
Good thing you give all your colleagues' footwear an ocular patdown each day

by Anonymous2 years ago
My boss gives me a physical pat down. Each week he's like ok time for your weekly check up. And he really checks everything out he's great
by Anonymous2 years ago
Yea I'm not gonna lie when I first started work and they told us we'd have weekly penis inspection every Monday, I was kinda thrown off. Now though, I'd be lying if I didn't say I got a bit excited every morning knowing my boss cares enough about me (and him) haha
by Anonymous2 years ago
I know, it makes you wonder about people who use phrases like "ocular justice" lol.
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's why I wear flip flops.
by Anonymous2 years ago
These goes with everything.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Flip flops cut ur feet if u walk in them for too long
by Anonymous2 years ago
Not if you treat them right and praise them regularly.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I'm not gonna sit around in uncomfortable shoes all day if myc omfy ones are in the dress code.
If you want the rest to match my shoes, add moer casual days and I'll forgo the formal wear all together
by Anonymous2 years ago
A nice pair of oxfords are super comfy and look fantastic?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Not anything that I find appealing. if they offered them as a uniform? sure but nothign I'd ever personally spend money on
by Anonymous2 years ago
Offered them as a uniform? It's just a semi formal/ formal shoe for a business casual attire.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Then I'll go within the dress code and if they allow my sneakers, then I'm wearing them, lol.
Anything I don't already own and is just for work only coming from the thrift store
by Anonymous2 years ago
Or, you know, wear whatever you want.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You're gonna break op's brain if you say this.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Glad i dont work in your stuffy ass office lol
by Anonymous2 years ago
>please do us an ocular justice
Hahahahahahahahahahaha
No. I'm going to be comfy.
>Have some self respect
You really think *my* sense of self-respect is measured by what *you* think of my footwear?
by Anonymous2 years ago
I think they do think that, is the funny part lol
by Anonymous2 years ago
To be fair, quite a bit of people think like this. OP isn't alone.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I work with a lady that is small with small feet to match. Coincidentally, she has just as much luck with the kids section for shoes than she does the adult section.
I actively encourage her to wear the multiple sets of light-up sneakers she has and it is hilarious to see her run around our office in full dress attire with flashing feet.
by Anonymous2 years ago
She sounds awesome.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Slay queen
by Anonymous2 years ago
I have self respect. That's why I want to avoid corns and bunions and all the other toe damage that comes from wearing fancy shoes. And who wears formalwear to the office? I'm just going to wear sneakers and regular clothes if I'm going to work. Formalwear is for fancy parties. I went to high school dances before it was popular to wear sneakers with prom dresses and it just meant you wore your heels for about 10 minutes and went barefoot the rest of the dance. Might as well start with the comfortable shoes
by Anonymous2 years ago
I think it depends what the office setting is too. for me, I have zero personal interaction with clients so hell naw why would I dress up.? I wear either sneakers or hiking boots when I know I'm gonna be in and out... hell even my bosses do the same.
so yea mega no on dress shoes.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Are you referring to the women who refuse to put on painful shoes?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Office attire, so pre-pandemic.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Lmao before people woke up to how horrible their boring, dreary lives were pre-pandemic.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Y'all really on a roll today with judging people's outer wear.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Suddenly some people really care about how others dress and idk why it matters
by Anonymous2 years ago
People have always cared about how others dress. We're you born yesterday? How you present yourself to others is crucial on how they treat you. Yeah it might not make logical sense or you could say you don't care but you really do. Everyone on the planet cares about how people think about them. People may vary on who's opinion matters but to everyone at least someone's opinion does.
by Anonymous2 years ago
As someone who is allergic to leather and have small feet (size 39,5 EU : US 7) but also wide feet, my options are limited. In a wide array of 500 choices I only can handle like one or two shoes. My best choices are the Skechers extra wide line-up of shoes. I don't care if you like it or not, my medical conditions are not yours to say: ‘have some selfrespect'. I much don't refer this than very painful feet every day.
by Anonymous2 years ago
The feet fetish has gone too far.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Somewhat related - I once saw a bachelor party where they were all wearing full suits with fitted baseball caps. It was kind of weird because it seemed like they were all athletes that just got drafted since that was the only other place I've seen the look
by Anonymous2 years ago
If I wasn't walking a mile in a day in those shoes when wearing formal stuff, I'd agree.
by Anonymous2 years ago
The formalwear is the problem here. People should at least be able to be comfortable doing the job they need to do in order to survive.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I respect myself enough to wear comfy shoes
by Anonymous2 years ago
But how will fifty-something dudes at night clubs let young women know they're the cat pajamas if the don't wear expensive sneakers and a sports coat over a t-shirt to hide their spare tire? The slightly askew, flat brim baseball hat just simply isn't enough!
by Anonymous2 years ago
>please do us an ocular justice and put on some decent or at least more appropriate shoes.
It's unfashionable and I'd posit unattractive but um...
*nobody owes you "ocular justice".*
by Anonymous2 years ago

by Anonymous2 years ago
Why you staring at people's feet in the first place lmao?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Seinfeld ; what you playin at ?!
by Anonymous2 years ago
Self respect is caring more about your comfort than what people on the internet think about you.
by Anonymous2 years ago
You're acting like a Hall Monitor for what people are wearing for footwear. Finding a book which interests you will help defeat such an extreme level of boredom.
Also, I think it very strange you're cruising around formal events while performing an internal mental fashion shows of other humans' shoes
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's why I wear Crocs with my tuxedo
by Anonymous2 years ago
*sad Tenth Doctor noises*
by Anonymous2 years ago
I walk miles and miles on concrete at work, but also have to lead meetings, pead tours, and look presentable. Footwear fashion takes a back seat to comfort. If you are an office jockey, it's a lot easier.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Formal wear at the office is a joke, casual all the time should be the norm
by Anonymous2 years ago
Such a silly thing to say. Decades of casual shoe wear with suits has shown it to be fashionable as well as a good look. Does every shoe fit well, no. Is it a good look when done right? Yes. Do some people simply do it to commute, also yes
by Anonymous2 years ago
Wear what makes you happy. FTP
by Anonymous2 years ago
Sandals it is.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Why does anyone owe you "ocular justice" when picking out their clothes? It's really weird to think that.
by Anonymous2 years ago
ITT: Triggered people lmao
by Anonymous2 years ago
I don't understand why anyone would care what shoes someone was wearing.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I bet you're fun at parties.
by Anonymous2 years ago
The nicer your shoes are, the nicer the parties that you get invited to.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I like some nasty with my classy. We're a van's household. That being said, I have some blue leather shoes that hurt my feet but are so so cool. Bust them out maybe once a year.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Vans are a big step up from performance sportswear; they aren't fancy or classy, but they can fill out a deliberate aesthetic with variable mileage. I feel the same about chucks; they a bit nasty, but in a deliberate manner for a specific effect. Still much better than trainers.
also, the corollary on this rule doesn't apply the same way; you *can* wear wingtips to a tractor pull, even if you will catch some side eye. You may not wear trainers to dine with his majesty, however.
eta have you tried conditioning the leather on your dope ass shoes? That might be a bit of a trick with the dye job. Wearing them more will probably help work them in to a point where they fit your feet instead of your foot and the shoe reaching a compromise, which could be the case if you hardly ever wear them.
by Anonymous2 years ago
No pain no gain I suppose. I'll give it a go. My ankles bled after the first proper dance session in them.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Bro is beefing with *shoes* 💀
by Anonymous2 years ago
I have more respect in jeans with formal shoes than in suits with sneakers
by Anonymous2 years ago
i can't wear dress shoes
by Anonymous2 years ago
Formalwear itself looks like horsesh-t, it doesn't matter what kind of shoes you are wearing.
by Anonymous2 years ago
There are plenty of sneakers specifically designed to go with suits, you can keep your cramped, blistered, sweaty feet. I'll be comfy
by Anonymous2 years ago
If you can't comprehend basic style & fashion then that's your issue not ours lmao
by Anonymous2 years ago
That's not an unpopular opinion.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Ok Boomer
by Anonymous2 years ago
Or maybe wear whatever is the most comfortable footwear.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Preach.
by Anonymous2 years ago
It's only cool at a wedding with fitted hats also.
by Anonymous2 years ago
House MD would like a word with you
by Anonymous2 years ago
Gatekeeping shoes
by Anonymous2 years ago
Of course wear what you want, but if you want to pair J's with slacks you're lame.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Why do you care what shoes people have on?
by Anonymous2 years ago
Why do you care what others wear? I see people all the time in stuff I wouldn't wear and couldn't really care less.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I just love the idea that not conforming to an outdated and less-enforced dress code means you lack self-respect.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Everyone put on your stilettos so OP can ogle your feet, drool, and take pics when you aren't looking.
by Anonymous2 years ago
From a fashion standpoint yeah. Unpopular for that reason, OP is saying (I think) that people who wear this do so to be "fashionable" when that whole look is just…atypical and rather unpleasant.
You guys gotta relax on the social justice.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Don't look at my shoes if you don't like it. My comfort doesn't care about your feelings.
by Anonymous2 years ago
I disagree. I've been told that runners are extremely comfy. They belong wherever the person chooses to wear them.
