Yeah thats just something pop culture goes through. There was that summer everyone became, "Lana-fied". Or that phase every kid went through were they either obsessively loved or violently hated Justin Bieber. Hell even the original it girl, Marilyn Monroe had and still has a dedicated following. Every generation of kids go through this.

I agree, Billie reminds me of Lorde and Lana del Rey. People act like Billie invented the sad alt-girl genre in music but those two other artists I mentioned did that years before her. Which honestly baffles me because Lana and Lorde should get more recognition since they paved the way for Billie.

I like her songs, my kids like her songs. We're not obsessed? I would say there is a small minority for each celebrity that would qualify as 'obsessed' Usually people just listen to artists songs because they enjoy the sound.

I'd say it's actually a good thing for parents and kids to find something they have in common, and considering that Billie's music appears to be clean for the most part and non-vulgar, I don't see any problem with it being a favourite, especially with young people. My generation fawns over Latto's "Big Energy", Cardi B's "WAP" and LovelyPeaches' "Itchin' N' Burnin'", and the constant focus in such songs on women being valued as raunchy sex objects is somewhat depressing and grotesque. If Billie's singing "Ocean Eyes" to kids, it ain't my style of music personally, but it's also more empowering to hear a young girl singing about her emotions and her world without just relegating herself to sex.
