+154 Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's so good and Andor just made it better.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The people who would energetically challenge you on that opinion are getting too old and tired to do so. I used to think ESB was the best until I watched Rogue One.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This is a popular opinion.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Empire Strikes Back is *widely* regarded as being the best SW movie, so yes, it is unpopular.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yea, I agree that Empire is the widely regarded best. But many of my Star Wars nerd friends, to include myself, agree that Rogue One is just amazing and possibly the best Star Wars film.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I'm glad to find people who agree. Rogue One has such compelling characters, it gives a backstory, it presents selflessness as a virtue…I firmly agree with OP on this one!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I suppose just saying "Empire Strikes Back is not the best Star Wars movie" would've been more unpopular

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yea, that would have definitely generated more heat but you would've seen the Rogue One lovers emerge.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Me: *emerging*

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

by Anonymous 1 year ago

My ex-girlfriend broke up with me during us seeing Rogue One and stole my leather jacket but I stayed to finish the movie cause it was really good 8/10.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Sorry about the leather jacket, buddy.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I agree, easily the most compelling Star Wars, aside from the animated clone wars series

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I feel like Star Wars sorta lends itself better to animation than live action in general.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

There's 5 Star Wars movies that I'd consider my favourite ones, and I love them all for different reasons. Rogue One is the main one of those that can say it holds up completely without nostalgia - it's in the list because it's just an awesome movie. Andor took what Rogue One did well and made more of it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This \^\^\^ exactly, Rogue One is probably the only SW movie that just holds up outside of SW as a generally great movie. You could watch it with little to no knowledge of the SW universe, and still think it's a good movie.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I only saw the first half of Rogue One, but I agree. I love the characters and can't wait to see more movies with them.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Oh man, you're missing out! The third act is the absolute best part of the movie, one of the best third acts of all time. And have you seen Andor?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Feels like I am taking crazy pills whenever someone says they love rogue one.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It seems like they always really mean "I love the last twenty minutes of Rogue One". Completely ignoring the lack of character development or just how boring it is until those lost last 20 or so minutes.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I saw the movie. I don't even remember what it was about is how forgettable it was.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

My only problem is the characters are hollow and not memorable at all. I'm big on character in story telling and it was extremely lackluster. Like I've seen it three times and I still don't remember anyone's name except Jin and even then I have to think about it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Andor (the show) does add a ton of depth to his character in Rogue One though, kind of silly now how insanely developed he is compared to the rest of the cast.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You do have an unpopular opinion hidden in there. In a round about way you said ROTS is a better movie then ESB, and that's just flat out wrong for so many reasons. There is definitely an argument to be made for Rogue One though.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not flat out wrong. You just disagree with that opinion.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's ok to be wrong

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I am not sure it is entirely better than *Empire*, but it is fair to say it is the best Star Wars movie of the present century. In true idiot fashion of Disney, the best movie and the best show (so *Rogue 1* and *Andor*) can't find audiences because they have been sandwiched between so many turds that real fans have simply given up.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I mean, it is uncontroversially the only really good one Disney crapped out so far. I think the world has moved on from trying to defend the exercise in copy/pasting that was TFA.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Rogue One is the only good Star Wars movie that Disney produced. I don't think that it's the best though. I think that episodes 1 - 3 were the best.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Now that's a controversial opinion!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Hahahahahah. No. I can't even name a single character in it other than dArth Vader.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Star Wars is dumb trash.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Can you elaborate?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Bodhi Rook finds Cassian who finds Jyn who finds Saw who helps them find Galen who helps them all find the Scariff base is Rogue One in a nutshell..great action though

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I don't rank it above empire strikes back because it was a marvel for its time. But, overall, you're not alone on this one

by Anonymous 1 year ago

OG Star Wars fan here. Empire is one of the best movies ever made and as far as I'm concerned rogue one is equal to it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

This is just a fact. It's the only movie, if not for the background history, that is a stand alone quality movie.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Spoiler....they all die

by Anonymous 1 year ago

At the very least, its certainly the best since 1980.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The best part of Rogue One was the ending, which relied on the nostalgia from the other Star Wars movies. I don't think it would have worked nearly as well without the history.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Thanks for the chuckle

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Agreed. I am admittedly, however, not a Star Wars fan. This film and the Andor tv series are compelling viewing all the same.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Rogue One, Fallen Order and maybe Battlefront are the only good things since the franchise was taken over imo.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's ok. The last minutes where we see Vader be the bad ass that he's supposed to be is definitely the best part for me.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

respect to your opinion even tho I don't like it but you can have it

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Rogue One was the best Movie. Not the best Star Wars movie. It had tastes of star wars, but ultimatley feels short of that special magic that a movie like ESB brings. There is a mystique that surrounds vader and luke on screen together. When ever they talk, nothing else in the series compares. I am your father, was the biggest moment in my childhood. The movie isn't perfect, it's old as well. Rogue one is just not as magical.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Star Wars is awful in general

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Well the competition is not that hard so...

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You are 100% correct. Respect.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I've long said this, I'm in complete agreement.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The Star Wars crowd is geolocating your house right now to send you 50 pizzas at your expensive, the rest of us think you're totally correct.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's unpopular to NOT like Rogue One. It's even more unpopular to fall in love with Andor and still not like Rogue One. (Me) After finishing Andor and rewatching Rogue One I like even less than the first time watched it in theaters. Andor Season 1 is a masterpiece in filmmaking, characters, writing, and pacing.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Are you using "best" as a way to describe the movie you enjoyed most, or "best" as in describing the quality of the movie?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I would say rogue one is the best movie in the franchise but its not the best 'Star Wars' movie.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I agree that ROTS is the best film in the saga. Rogue One is also really good.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Let me guess. Born in the 2000's?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think rise of skywalker is
