+158 Steak is delicious, and cooking good steak can be tough, but I wouldn't call someone a good cook based on their steak, amirite?

If you can't cook a steak you can't cook but other than that I agree

I know some great indian chefs, who can't cook steak because it's not consumed there, but god dammn if they are not Masters of flavor, my main objection is using steak as a parameter for how good a chef is. I think making flavor profiles is a far better indicator

I don't believe that an Indian chef can't cook steak. There are people who don't eat pork but can still cook it and steak is practically the easiest thing to do.

This is an opinion I would say is popular, because a lot of people have it. Now seasoning a steak or cooking a high level cut may need some skills, but just because you can chuck a slab of meat on the grill doesn't make you a good cook, I concur. Teenagers make steaks for people at restaurants who have gotten high on their break before making the order, so it can't be that tough, unless you want it well done.

This doesn't just go for steak though. Being able to make one good meal doesn't make you a good cook.
