+143 People celebrating football loudly in public should be forbidden, amirite?

Vandalizing and harrassing others is already forbidden. Freedom of expression and association, however, are constitutional rights most people have. Why do you hate fun, man?

It's astonishing how these events manage to repeatedly display how little we've actually evolved from being troglodytes

Do you know how being silent works?

Yes. I also understand how living in a society works too, and part of that is dealing with other people. Write a letter to your local authority or move to Antarctica if you can't stand some noise once every four years.

Nah, I believe you are exaggerating, If any of them are honking their horns after their rest hours, you can call the police, they will probably get a ticket. A real nuisance would be if fans started vandalism or fights with fans of other teams.

Which is what actually happens

I've seen exactly this scenario. People cause a disturbance on the streets because their favourite team has won. Honking, marching down the street with their flags and taking it up completely so cars can't pass, playing loud music or chanting. It's after rest hours, people call the police about disturbance cause, what do you know? it's a Wednesday afternoon and people need to be up at six for their jobs. The police comes, try to warn these people or give them a ticket for disrupting public peace or whatever its called. The fans get offended cause the police intervenes, "We were just celebrating", they get angry at the police asking them to go inside or keep it down, andddd they're fighting. not always, and not all fans. but if the police intervenes and gives them a ticket, chances are that won't be the end and things have the chance to escalate. And the fans vandalising stuff and fighting with the fans of other teams? That's something that happened a few times now during the World Cup in my city.
