+148 People from the Midwest part of the United States are mostly mean, amirite?

I find that those who brag the loudest about their "hospitality" are usually the least so.

Someone from Ohio complaining about rude people? This is great.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Why do you think I'm from Ohio lol

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Mostly, the generalizations and lack of evidence to support your theory outside of a very small sample size.

I'm a bit confused on why that would mean I'm from Ohio but nope! I'm actually from Illinois! And I didn't provide every single anecdote of when I've encountered rude people because it's just an unpopular opinion that I have due to my own observations and encounters. Obviously there will be plenty of people who think the opposite. And there are definitely rude people everywhere, but in my experience this is what I've witnessed.

Unfortunately a huge part of the Midwest is now filled with MAGA douchebags (for the record I'm from the Midwest).

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Actually. This is a pretty good point. All of the people involved in my encounters are huge MAGA douches and quite racist.

This guy really thinks Karen's, likely ones that have never actually been to the Midwest, represent the Midwest, I aint even gonna try to use logic on this, that's next level stupidity

"Everyone I meet is an asshole except me."

This is the vibe I'm getting. I've done enough traveling to know that most people will be nice and friendly upfront so long as you start that way. If you go in looking for a fight or in a bad mood you're more likely to get a bad response

The part about excluding outsiders stuck out. My mom is from MD and dad is from MN. My mom never felt welcomed and that tarnished the relationship with that side a bit. That was years ago though and people change and grow, so things a re better now. I'm still in MD and there's good and bad people.

I've lived all over the US, mostly the MidWest and the Southwest. IMO people are mean everywhere. In larger cities though, people are more abrupt, mostly because they need you to get out of the way. Whereas in the Midwest, where even larger cities can feel like a small town, people are a lot nosier & cliqueish. Also people in the SW tend to be a lot younger & more tolerant than the people in the midwest; who tend to be older and more cantankerous.
