Lmao, great so now the kids know it's cos their parents are poor, nice 👍 Also if a kid is rude or ungrateful after receiving a gift you can still deal with it despite it ‘being from Santa', not to mention you can just say Santa is the delivery man and actually parents ‘put the order in' etc

> This teaches kids that presents come from a magical being and not from your family who pay a lot of money to make them happy on one hand --- true. on the other hand, kids don't keep this belief until adulthood. they usually very quickly realize that there is really no santa claus. they find out the truth before they are really old enough to develop dependency issues relating to a fictional savior who will provide for them. when i was a kid i got presents "from santa" but i ALSO got a lot of gifts from family members that were addressed to me, by the family member who got it for me. i think this "balance" is somewhat common these days where kids get gifts from family AND gifts from santa, which at least forces them to acknowledge that some of the gifts they receive are from family members.

I did learn that we as parents should say the big presents are from us and let Santa bring the smaller things so I'm going to do that so one day when she goes to school she doesn't say Santa brought her an Xbox and Santa brought her classmate 1 sweater
