brandon sanderson wrote a few dozend books in between two asoiaf books and will probabaly write a few dozend more until the next comes out

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Brandon Sanderson could write a few dozen books before Christmas if he wanted.

Dudes an absolute beast. And it's not like Steven King pushing out mid tier mediocre stuff.

The next ASoIaF book is never coming out.

Not one penned by GRRM at least. I still hold out hope though for a type of Sanderson a'la Wheel of Time situation.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

GRRM said he doesn't want that but I guess you never know.

I just saw Avatar 2 last night and it was just ok. Pretty underwhelming after James Cameron telling me it's "the movie event of a generation." Wasn't impressed by the visuals, still don't like Jake or Neytiri, barely any world building, some of the cringiest dialogue I've ever heard in a film, the villain is cartoon evil, characters made baffling decisions. People in my theater were leaving early during the final fight. I don't think I'll ever see Avatar 2 again

The first movie felt like that to me too. The only thing that was impressive about the movie was it's look, but even then, i don't think it was as crazy in that sense as people made it out (the tech was obviously crazy but that doesn't really mean much to you during the actual watch).

Did you see it in imax 3d? Because it was mindblowing like that. I saw it 4 times, one of them in just a regular theater, and the one in a regular theater was entirely underwhelming.

Sitting in the cinema the first time the two leads meet was really nice, the part with the glowing flowers, the rest was so-so. Just a reskinned Pocahontas.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

that sucks i was looking forward to it 🥲

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I definitely say go see Avatar 2. I was blown away by it. Highly recommended.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

That's how I felt about the first one, though I did think the visuals were good for the time... it just wasn't that great a movie. I didn't feel it needed a sequal at all and I am certainly not driving an hour each way to get to the nearest theater to watch it. My mother loved it though, still thinks it is one of the best movies of all times... I don't get the love.

Was there not enough blue cheeks getting clapped?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

My reaction to the first one was basically, "Yeah, I've seen Pocahontas. At least they're blue and there's mechs this time, I guess?"

by Anonymous 1 year ago

But WOKE

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Jake or Neytiri. You mean *Pocahontas and John Smith*

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You probably liked shehulk.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You say that as if the MCU is done. I feel it has a *lot* more life, like several decades more life.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Phases 1-3 feel like the peak of the MCU though. A fantastical, deep beginning, middle, and end. Robert Downy Jr. was the MCU for the most part, especially in phase 3 when he appeared in nearly every film that had to do with the infinity stones arc. IMO I haven't had any interest to watch much of anything beyond Endgame because it just feels like the story ended and they're trying to capitalize on the brand

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Ugh... I dont hate the MCU movies, but I find them all very similar. Nearly all of them are one liner action comedies. I think Im just worn out on comic book superhero movies. Its like "oh great, another one..." does nothing for me.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It really ended with EndGame. The rest is just filler.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

How could you speak of Hawkeye that way?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Haha. That's the most anyone has spoken of Hawkeye all year.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

A bunch of people are rewatching it this Christmas.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It died a slow corporate death starting after Ironman 1.

Well, it's a lot easier to push out propaganda films based on preexisting technology and stories than to produce novel works that push the boundaries of existing art. This isn't to say I don't really enjoy Marvel movies, but they're propaganda fluff works.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And it has 2% of the immersion, depth and complexity of Avatar

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Are you sure you're talking about the movie? It was just an ok-ish movie with great visuals for the time

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Still more than you can say about any marvel film

by Anonymous 1 year ago

"I'm waiting for the technology" then he goes and threatens to cancel the later movies if we don't fawn over him and his projects enough.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And Avatar got a whole world at Walt Disney World..... marvel got 1 ride.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

There is no avatar movie in ba sing se. And definitely no second one
