People can consider things beautiful and mesmerising even when they are not what one would call traditionally attractive. There's nothing mutually exclusive there.
historical architecture such as catacombs and a lot of paintings are similar in that they aren't traditionally beautiful or conventional yet still are mesmerising and beautiful in their own ways.

Over hyped boring show

It's supposed to be weird because Wednesday Addams is a weird person. It's cool and popular because it's different!

Fun fact: She choreographed the dance herself and, this was the very first scene she filmed, AND had COVID while filming it (they didn't know until the next day). But, she was essentially really ill and said in an interview she would have liked another chance to try it again.

The idea is that she's dancing like no one is watching and just doing what she wants and not caring that others find her silly or weird. Thats the beauty of it.

She's a win for the neurodivergent spectrum. Let them have it.

I mean it's not meant to be a normal dance. The Adams have never been known to do anything the normal way but that doesn't mean it's a bad way. That family doesn't care about how others look at them and that's another reason why the dance is weird. It does have some inspiration and references from I believe grunge and rave dances too.

Would be cool if someone linked this dance for those of us that don't watch the show

Everyone interprets art in their own way

ofc its wierd thats the entire vibe of the show and chracters

Apparently she just made it up on the spot, so I think it's cool just because of that. Had it been professionally put together then we have a problem haha

It's artsy, might not be aimed at you if you don't like it.
I appreciate the show and the dance but understand it wasn't aimed at me.

I wouldn't even really have an opinion on it if it wasn't for the fact that it's been flooding my Facebook timeline for the past two weeks. No problem with the dance whatsoever, I think she did a very good job as Wednesday, but it's not that special of a scene. Just my opinion, though.. like you said, maybe I just don't appreciate real art.

It's because people on the Internet relate to being cringe

The mesmerizing aspect of the dance was Ortega herself leaning hard into Wednesdays character for that scene. Shes has a very macabre persona and it was cool to see her maintain that characterization in the form of her dancing, because we all know her parents love to dance, so of course she would too. It was interesting to see Ortega's interpretation of that.

What video are we talking about? I have no idea.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Considering Jenna Ortega choreographed it as a non dancer, cudos do her regardless of what people think
