Humans form emotional connections to inanimate objects *all the time*. This is that.

Space is incredibly interesting and I love learning about it but honestly how many billions if not trillions need to be spent just to know how cold it is or what the dirt is made out of on another planet that we are technologically centuries away from being able to live on or harvest resources from?

Completely agree. Honestly just makes little sense to me.

The only explanation I hear is that we might discover life frozen in the ice or we might someday need to move there. If there is frozen life there could very well be frozen diseases too. And rather than worry about where we go when we destroy the planet why don't we just focus on saving the planet? I think its just scientists with big egos brainwashing people so they can put their name on something.
