+146 Caffeine doesn't wake you up. You just feel tired because you're withdrawing from caffeine addiction. amirite?

I mean, this is just demonstrably false. Caffeine is a simulant.

Caffeine helps me focus and function because it's a stimulant and I have ADHD. 🤷‍♀️

For me it's very hit or miss. It's either wires me up (I have no tolerance at all built up) or it makes me super chill and sleepy.

Sort of. Your body naturally releases cortisol when you wake up, which helps you in the morning. If you drink coffee first thing every day, your body learns that it doesn't need to make all that cortisol to help you wake up. This is sort of a specialized kind of withdrawal because it has to do with timing. If you don't drink coffee, then your body eases off the cortisol production a few hours after you wake up. That is a great time to drink coffee. Your body is naturally low on cortisol at that point, so it works as a genuine pick-me-up.
