+139 Most flat surfaces will show your reflection almost as clearly as a mirror if you place a clear glass pane in front of it with space in between, but neither the flat surface nor the clear glass pane will even come close to showing an equally clear reflection just by itself. amirite?

I wonder if there are any more similar situations in the same "format" that follow this? That is, "1 and 1 make 2, but 1 or 1 alone does not make 2", if that made any sense.

Glass with empty space behind it will definitely show your reflection if the space behind it is dark and the space behind you is light.
