+138 If you haven't been in a public school or classroom in 10+ years, you have no place critiquing the education system, amirite?

I think seeing the results of the education system is sufficient to be able to criticize.

We're all done here folks

Yes, but it depends on how you qualify those results. For example, looking at a study that shows graduation rates can help you inform a valid criticism But listening to an anecdote on Facebook about how "little timmy cant read because his teachers are too busy makin him wear dresses and learn pronouns" isn't the best way to inform valid criticism

my wife's been a teacher for 20 years and my kid's in school. guess i'm expert and can talk about education all I want.

You aren't an expert, but you probably have more insight than a random, childless, 20 something or 70 year old who's kids haven't been in school since the 80's

Random 70 year old probably has grand kids in school. 20 year old has siblings, cousins, etc. in school. Plenty of sources for up-to-date info on how schools are doing.

I really think it's the school sand teachers. How are they suppose to teach when they can't sustain a form and crumble into a pile before the children's eyes?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Send in spiderman, he has experience dealing with sand people

I am not a woman so I should not support women's rights or talk about it? I am not black so I should not talk about racism? I am not in China so I should not talk about Hong Kong? Sure my opinions might be wrong but they are still opinions which help further the conversation.

Meh, I'd say that looking up studies (specifically scientific studies) is fine. We just need to be prepared to cite our sources when we make such and such claims so that other people can check if we get it right.

As long as my tax money supports the school system, I can voice my opinion - regardless of what anyone thinks.
