Don't most people choose a date that's significant to them rather than what happens to be available?

I don't know about "most people," although I'm sure that's quite common. I think they generally look for a timeline that works for their planning (eg they want a certain amount of time, usually months, to plan everything) and they might have a season in mind. Then they choose the venue and the venue might have limited availability.

Not people I know. Most were based on what date was available.

Nope. Same date as our first date. And since its 9/11 he always remembers it

Mine is because we got married at the courthouse immediately after my husband received his first "grown up" job offer. It also happens to be the day after my birthday, lol. Everyone is like "Well I guess he won't forget the anniversary, amiright?!?"
