+169 The instrumental outro of the rock song "Layla" is much better than the main part, amirite?

The piano is great but Duane Allman's slide guitar

It's great! I'm slightly more partial to the acoustic intro to Clapton's MTV Unplugged version of Layla

I tend to agree, but it goes on way too long.

All germans reading this after the last summer like... What?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah i'm confused.

YES! Was never a fan of that song anyway and the outro's the only part that I like.

A lot of songs are like that, where the producer will only let the artists show their chops at the very end as the song fades

That piano outro is one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. And then Dewey Allman comes in with those high-pitched slide guitar bird sounds and drives it all home.

It's good, but I prefer the main part. It's annoying because the song is so long but half of it is like an entirely different genre which I don't want to listen to, so I just end up skipping halfway through. Wish the first and second parts were also released separately

I just listened again. CAN CONFIRM. Check out the outro to On Every Street by dire straits.

I love on every street

The outro will always make me think of Jimmy tying up loose ends in Goodfellas.

I'll add a related one--while Layla is great, it's only the 3rd or 4th best song on that album

The original layla with electric guitar and piano is god tier while the acoustic version is lukewarm as hell

i know how to play the entire thing on piano, excellent crowd pleaser when if there's a piano at a party lol
