You never saw anyone walk onto the bridge of the starship Enterprise with a tumbler of coffee, amirite?

I'm almost certain the yeoman brought kirk some coffee on TOS. Picard was a little more 'professional' and probably didn't care for food and drink on the bridge. Though he famously enjoyed tea in his ready room.

Yeah he did. I just saw an episode the other day where this alien species put something in his coffee that made time speed up for him. To the crew, it looked like he had vanished.

Most ships don't have the ability to project holograms into all parts of the ship. So if you want to coffee you go into the ready room or the captains office

I don't understand what coffee has to do with holograms.

While the coffee is real, the cup that is holding it is a hologram.

I don't even remember that holograms were a thing. How do you know that?

It was one of the random tech manuals related to Star Trek. The food replicators are capable of producing biomass. They used a hologram create plates cups and flatware. At least for the enterprise D

Ah, that explains it. I'm more a fan of the original.
